The Assignment: |
In 1998, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev established the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) to bring together the nation's major international direct investors with senior government officials to address barriers to foreign investment in Kazakhstan. To ensure that the FIC remain viable and sustainable organization, The PBN Company was hired by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to help with the first year of the organization's operation.

PBN’s Strategy: |
The primary goal was to ensure that the FIC would remain a working and productive organization long after PBN's contract was over. To achieve this goal, The PBN Company developed consensus on a mission, plan of action and overall strategy and mission for the Council among Kazakh government leaders and foreign direct investors.

Results: |
The first full meeting FIC was a tremendous success. The President
endorsed the FIC's joint public / private sector Working Group Reports
and its recommendations. And, he issued directives to his government
to address key concerns of foreign direct investors immediately.
The FIC remains a thriving and industrious organization even today.
