In 1990, well before other consulting firms looked to the region, The
PBN Company opened an office in Moscow. The firm was the first international
strategic communications company fully accredited with and registered
by the USSR (now Russian) Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Russian magazine Vlast, The PBN Company is credited
with introducing the term "PR" into the Russian lexicon. By
the mid-nineties, The PBN Company had opened the Russian market to Chiquita
bananas, helped launch Apple computers in the country and managed all
communications for the global responses to the Komi oil spill in Northern
Russia.
Today, our Moscow office employs more than 30 professional communicators,
lobbyists, writers, translators and consultants. Moscow-based clients include
leading Russian companies, like Pharmacy 36.6, Renaissance Capital and Basic Element;
major Western investors, including Anheuser-Busch, BP, Diageo, GlaxoSmithKline,
Intel, Statoil and Visa International; international financial institutions including The World
Bank and EBRD; and government institutions, such as the U.S. Department of Treasury.
The firm's longevity in Russia provides unique insights into Russian
companies and their management - how they are viewed both within their
borders and in international markets. This regional experience and cultural
appreciation gives us an exceptional ability to translate a Russian company's
corporate vision, philosophy and operating principles in terms that are
understandable to both domestic and international audiences. Similarly,
The PBN Company is uniquely positioned to advise Western investors on
the successful application of their corporate values and management styles
in the Russian business, social and political context.
