Kremlin

Ticket office closes at 4:30pm, Kremlin admission is 300 rubles and includes all buildings except Armory and Diamond Fund.

Over the eight centuries of its existence the Kremlin has seen many important historical events. The Kremlin palaces and cathedrals house Russian state regalia, priceless icons and the Russian tsars’ treasures. The Kremlin, one of the largest architectural ensembles in the world, is home to the Patriarch’s Palace, Assumption Cathedral, Church of the Deposition of the Robe, Ivan the Great Bell Tower, Archangel Cathedral, Annunciation Cathedral. It also houses the Tsar Cannon (16th Century) and Tsar Bell (18th Century). The Great Kremlin Palace is also inside the Kremlin.

Armory
Admission: 350 rubles

Collection of arms and regalia dating back to the 16th century, royal garments and religious robes, gold and silverwork by Russian masters, royal carriages, Russian and Western European weapons, and other precious historical treasures.

Diamond Fund Exhibition
Admission: 350 rubles

Housed in the same building as the Armory, the exhibition displays precious stones and jewelry, including several large loose diamonds. This is one of the few museums in the world that keep royal treasures.

Alexandrovsky Garden

The first public park in Moscow, Alexandrovsky lies along the western wall of the Kremlin.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The tomb contains the remains of an unknown soldier who died in December 1941. The place is a popular destination for many, including newlyweds who bring flowers on the day of their wedding.

The cathedral was built in 1555-1561 to commemorate the victory over the Tatars. The cathedral is made up of nine separate churches that stand on a common foundation. In 1860 the cathedral was rebuilt into a complex and colorful construction, the way we see it now.

Lenin's Tomb

Since 1924 the tomb has kept the embalmed remains of V. I. Lenin. Every 18 months the body is submerged in a chemical bath to prevent decaying. Cameras must be left in lockers at the ticket booth.

State History Museum

The Museum houses a collection covering the Russian history from ancient times to the present , with each gallery decorated in the style of the period.

VDNKh
The All-Russian Exhibition Center
Metro: VDNKh (a mall leads to the exhibition center, follow the large crowd of people)

Created in 1930s to display the achievements of the USSR. Now a commercial center, VDNKh stretches 2 km long and 1 km wide, with huge pavilions, fountains and wide pedestrian avenues. While we do not recommended it as shopping destination, it is a fascinating example of the remnants of socialism.

Moscow White House

In 1991 Boris Yeltsin climbed onto a tank in front of the White House to rally opposition to a hard line coup. Two years later, in October 1993, he sent troops to fire on conservative opposition. Behind the building red ribbons, pictures and other items line the street as an unofficial memorial.

Statue Park

Outdoor collection of statues including busts of ex-Soviet heroes.
